Dear Friends,

As the Chief Executive Officer of a state that is proud to build things – and build them well – I am delighted to showcase some of the qualities that attract new industries to South Carolina and help our existing companies grow and thrive.

With one of the best business climates in the nation, evidenced by our consistently positive rankings, the Palmetto State is a great place to establish operations of any kind. Known as a manufacturing powerhouse, our state is increasingly being sought for corporate headquarters, the service sector, life sciences and high-tech and high-growth companies. For several years, South Carolina has been named one of the top states for doing business by a select group of corporate site consultants.

Further demonstrating the state’s business-friendly climate, South Carolina has welcomed many of the world’s top companies to our borders, and – for two years in a row – was recognised by IBM as the top state in the US in recruiting jobs by international companies. Globally respected companies, such as Michelin, GlaxoSmithKline, BMW and Boeing have found a home in the Palmetto State, and continuing to encourage foreign-direct investment is key to our economic development strategy.

We are driven to constantly enhance and attract new business, promote the expansion of existing business, and nurture entrepreneurship in the state. I am confident that South Carolina provides the advantages that businesses, both large and small, need to compete on a global scale.

As Governor, I am personally committed to helping companies grow in South Carolina and welcome your consideration of our state for your next project or business venture. I am sure you will quickly realise that South Carolina is just right for business and a great place for families. God bless.

My very best,

Nikki R. Haley
Governor
